Mexitalian Cuisine
Mexitalian Cuisine, located at Xavier Square, Masterson Ave., Airport Road, Upper Balulang Cagayan de Oro City. They offer Tacos, Pizza, Pasta and more..
The Flash Player and a browser with Javascript support are needed..
What a pleasure it is to be invited by one of the owners of Mexitalian Cuisine to try out what they have to offer to us Kagayanons. They first served us the Mexitalian Special Pizza which had Sausage, Ham, Salami, Olives, Bell Pepper, Mushroom, Onions, Tocino, Pineapple and Mozarella Cheese. For a Pizza lover like me, the overload variety of toppings surely won my vote. Also they made sure that their pizza’s are less oily perfect for the health conscious bunch (aren’t we all?).
They also served us Penne Al Cortoccio, the pasta dish with Mushrooms, Black Olives, and Capers. What an elegant name for a pasta that is wonderfully flavoured and the sauce well matched yet price remains very affordable.
They also recommend Salami Pizza and Quattro Stagioni Pizzas, Penne Boscaioia Pasta in white sauce and Spaghetti Ala Bolognese and their Mexican Selections of Beef Tacos, Nachos and Chicken Fajitas. They are open from 10 am to 10 pm daily.
Also, let me not fail to mention that Mexitalian Cuisine has a homey and pleasant ambience. The establishment is also WiFi Ready so you can bring your laptops and other WiFi ready gadgets.
I’d like to thank Jackie Roa for the invitation and to his sister who also happens to be a blogger!
I’ll be dropping by the restaurant again to try out their other pizzas and pastas. You should too.. and even invite your friends and family to come along.

SoCCSKSarGen Summer Safari – Day 2
Day 2 Breakfast was at Dolores Farm Resort in Polomolok, South Cotabato , where after eating their delicious meal prepared for us, the group toured around the resort and their mini zoo. It was so much fun! The Organizers also encouraged the participants to break into groups so that CDOBloggers, Davao Bloggers and SoCCSKSarGen Bloggers can have the opportunity to get to know each other better.
Since the schedule was packed that day, we had to start our roadtrip to Koronadal City to meet Zion Travel’s Francis Sablon and Carlo Ebeo who facilited our Lake Sebu Tour. I was amazed at the natural wonder that is Lake Sebu and the fact that we have it here in Mindanao! Teeming with the most varied of flora and fauna, majestic mountains, sweeping plains.. and the 7 Falls being the highlight!
Our Lunch was hosted by Punta Isla Lake Resort and while waiting for our food we were entertained by the natives of the Place, the T’boli’s.. showing us their way of life through their dances. We also had a short discussion on how we plan to Organize Mindanao New Media where our Organization will not only include “Bloggers” and their Blogs but also using other forms of Social Networking Activity like posting on Twitter, Facebook, Plurk etc.. which are tools we can all use to promote Mindanao to the world.
After lunch the CDOBloggers opted to go back and try the Lake Sebu Zipline. It was too good to miss thinking of the 9 hrs road trip just to experience the adventure that awaits us. I will make a separate blog post on this in the coming days. While the rest of the group procedeed to our next host the Merl Garden Spring Resort. After breaking away from the group we head down to Koronadal City to catch up with them as they wait for us at Sa Balai Bistro.
Going back to General Santos City, we dropped by KCC Mall, special thanks to Avel who allowed us to have a quick tour of their Mall. I was very impressed of their homegrown Mall and the fact that their Movie House has 3D!! Jealouuuuss!! Kakanin at Iba pa also gave us Pasalubong.
Our Farewell Dinner was hosted by Red Tent Steakhouse where they served crown ribs, steaks, crabs, etc.
At this point, I wanted to hug everyone. It was time to say goodbye, we were leaving Gensan at 2 in the morning. I had an incredible time with all of my blogger friends. The weekend was one for the books. It’s not everyday we get to do this. Comforted with the fact that because of this activity, our relationship has grown stronger. Expect bigger and grander projects, events and adventures in the future.
All of this would not have been possible if not for our Gracious host, Avel Manansala – Bariles Republic’s GenSan News Online Mag , stay healthy and More Power to You! Kudos also goes to Orman Manansala, who made sure that all of us are having a great time. Mayor Jun Acharon for providing Transportation and Lechon. To the generous owners of all the places we’ve been to, thank you for opening your doors to us. We truly enjoyed the Mindanao Food Appreciation Tour / SoCCSKSarGen Summer Safari. To the Davao Bloggers and the SoCCSKSarGen Bloggers, thank you for spending time with us.

SoCCSKSarGen Summer Safari – Day 1
Together with the rest of the CDOBloggers group – Mike, Richard, Edward, Robstroy, Eldie, Elva and Venus, we headed for our 6 hrs road trip from Cagayan de Oro to Davao. However, right before we got to Seagull Resort, one of the tires of the Starex Van got busted. We took the opportunity to enjoy each others company just cam whoring, what with the cold weather and refreshing view.. we didn’t mind the wait.
When we finally got to our destination, the Davao Bloggers gave us a warm welcome as we enjoyed the sumptuous lunch served to us by Ranchero’s Grill and Restaurant, located at Tionko cor. Arellano St. Davao City. I really like the Fried Chicken they served with lots of Garlic in Buttery sauce and the very tender and tasy baby back ribs among others. After lunch, together with the Davao Bloggers, we were all in the bus for our 3 hrs trip to General Santos City.
When we arrived General Santos City, we proceeded to Ice Castle Experience the newest hotel in GenSan located at GLEX Business Center, 12 Ambassador Provido Village. We freshened up a bit then gathered at Pacman Sports Bar for drinks and delicious appetizers such as cheese sticks, sizzling sisig and garlic chicken. Of course, let me not fail to mention that I finally got to see the Boxing Champ Manny Pacquiao. Woohooo!!
Dinner was at Le Jardin Arnevel Garden Resort where Tita Nitz the owner prepared lechon, seafoods and other Filipino Dishes. I think I ate a plateful of crabs there.. and mind you, their rates are really affordable perfect for big events and family outings.
The fun does not end at dinner because we had one more stop.. the Grand Eyeball of CDOBloggers, Davao Bloggers and SoCCSKSarGen Bloggers. I believe this place is now coined as the “Official Tambayan of Bloggers” in GenSan.
Piyesta KTV and Resto Bar owned by a very good friend and fellow blogger Donna Mae Congson.. served us kurasticks, sizzling ubol-ubol, tuna buntot with the bar’s signature drinks — Jell-O Shots (in syringes) and Gayuma (in test tubes). Along side with the Lechon given to us by Mayor Jun Acharon. Ahaaa.. we were obviously partying the night away!!
Thank you to Robstroy, Mike and Charles for a few pictures I have added and used on this blog post.

Cycling to Lose Weight Day 1
At my continuous attempt to Lose Weight, I have purchased a bicycle for my exercise alternative to Brisk Walking. Day 1 was a fail though, I only rode the bicycle for 30 minutes. I had no idea how to change gears haha and I had to go home since I couldn’t clearly see the road. No eyeglasses! Lol. I also didn’t want to shock my body on its first day since this weekend I am headed to a trip with Bloggers at General Santos.
I’d love to document this new adventure of mine, starting next week, I will post my current weight and how I’m progressing at my Goal to Lose Weight. So far, I have made some minor changes in my lifestyle like cutting on soda and rice. We’ll see..

True Story of a Jejemon
If you want to Understand what a Jejemon is and how everything started.. please take a look at this video below. Take note that Jejemon’s is a pop culture Phenomenon in the Philippines. Currently, their species have multiplied immensely and Philippines can become in danger when and if Jejemons outnumber the Normal albeit boring Human Race.
Definition of Jejemon – Usually seen around social networking sites such as Friendster and Multiply, jejemons are individuals with low IQs who spread around their idiocy on the web by tYpFing LyK diZS jejejeje, making all people viewing their profile raise their eyebrows out of annoyance. Normal people like you and me must take a Bachelor of Arts in Jejetyping in order to understand said individuals, as deciphering their text would cause a lot of frustration and hair pulling.

2010 Elections: I am Voting for Richard “Dick” Gordon
I woke up quite early today but not for work, I made a complete list of the Candidates I am Voting for. First off, I made sure to add all the Mindanaoan Senatoriables to my list. Here’s hoping that they will truly bring the voice of Mindanao once elected.
Also more importantly, I am very excited to vote for my President. I am proud to announce that I am voting Richard “Dick” Gordon. While my Vice President would be Bayani Fernando. I am rooting for the TRANSFORMERS because I believe that is what the Philippines need, TRANSFORMATION.
Source: Piclyf.com/vote
I will vote for Dick Gordon because he is someone who’ll be firm, honest & straight w/ us. We’ve had enough pity, spoon-feeding and patronizing.
A strong, smart & competent leader. He can effect change thru actions, not words
Unlike the others, he showed to us that he can materialize what he says. Man of passion and sincerity!
He has the clearest, specific, measurable, attainable, reliable, and time bound platform.
He has a mission and an action to achieve the vision for the TRANSFORMATION of our Country!
No other Candidate inspires me more with his Character, Competence, Vision, Authenticity, Humility and Greatness!
He is the epitome of a good leader. He CAN and He WILL make a difference.. not for himself but for the Filipinos.
He is less of being ideal and more of being real.
He is straightforward and a solution oriented leader; that’s what this nation is looking for a long time!
He is credible, has proven track records and the most qualified.
So yes, I am going to paint the town RED and support Richard Dick Gordon and Bayani Fernando.

Mornings at Limketkai
My daily schedule is quite hectic and its very easy for me to claim that I don’t have time to exercise and because of my sedentary lifestyle, I’ve gained a lot of weight in 2 years time. This year, although I know it’s not an easy feat, I am making an effort at staying fit again.
So as much as I can, I either do brisk walking or jogging around the city. One of my favorite places in the morning has got to be the Limketkai Mall Area. I brought along my camera too so I can rest and take a few snaps too.

Very Clean, Less Vehicles too!

Thanks Lim Ket Kai Center, I don’t have to spend boring hours in the gym.

Missy Bon Bon Breadshop Cagayan de Oro
The CDOBloggers got an invitation from Missy Bon Bon Breadshop. A hip, cozy and relaxed breadshop serving only the Healthy, Natural and Fresh flavors!
It was a wonderful way to start our day right since the breakfast menu includes gourmet omelettes, tower pancakes, bacon, ham and even steak and eggs!
They also recommend sandwich, soup, pasta and salads for light lunch and merienda. While the full meals like Chicken Firenze, baked chicken breast which is crispy on the outside and stuffed with spinach and melting mozzarella cheese on the inside can be great for dinner.
It was indeed a yummy experience for us at Missy Bon Bon with all their different bread selections, sweet desserts and sumptuous meals to satisfy our cravings. Best-sellers to try out are the sweet potato bread, blueberry cream cheese, fish curry bun, guava chiffon and the super soft and fluffy Missy Bon Bon whole wheat bread loaf.
Best of all, Missy Bon Bon is serving different flavors of Gelato, made fresh daily using only pure cow’s milk and other fresh ingredients. In Response to Max’s CDO Issue
In all fairness to Max’s Restaurant Cagayan de Oro, I received a phone call from them around 7pm last night April 21, 2010 to discuss the issues raised on the blog post above.
As President of CDOBloggers, Inc., I’d like to clarify a few things:
- Our experience using the Function Room at Max’s Restaurant was an isolated case. The ORG does not discourage anyone to stop dining at Max’s Restaurant Cagayan de Oro.
- There was indeed miscommunication which created confusion between the CDOBloggers, Inc. Officers and Max’s Restaurant.
- We were not satisfied with Max’s Restaurant’s Customer Service but there is always room for improvement.
—————————————————–
Philip: It only took an hour to give the OR because your group computed the total bill manually. It was not because we wanted to hide something.
ChiQ: The only reason why we had to do that because we were first given a 2, 258 bill so we had to order some more so we can reach the consumable amount of 2500 but later on we were informed that we still had 3 unsettled receipts. Thus the bill amounted to 2800 something. This gave us an impression that your billing system was inefficient and well.. confusing.. how hard was it to give us the total amount anyway when in fact the system is computerized?
PROJECTOR ISSUE:
Philip: We do charge our customers for using a projector for 500 pesos.
ChiQ: How come I was informed that other groups were not charged for using a projector?
Philip: Some groups have become our regular customers so we are willing to waive the 500 pesos charge for projector and add it to the consumable amount of the function room.
ChiQ: I was not informed that Max’s will charge for the usage of the projector that isn’t yours in the first place. Is this a new policy?
Philip: You were informed during your reservation to us..
ChiQ: No we only talked about the food and that I wanted it on a pay per order basis. We did not discuss about the projector. If I would have known, it wouldn’t have come as a shock to me.
——————————————–
I do appreciate Max’s Restaurant Cagayan de Oro for giving me a call to settle the issues we have mentioned. The Assistant Branch Manager/OIC profusely apologized for what has happened during our SEO Mini Forum. Again, we have nothing against the restaurant and all our other queries has also been responded by the management. Thank you for hearing us out.. we hope that our future experiences will be a pleasant one.

Facebook Introduces Like Button
Facebook Fan pages helps in bringing a community around your blog by clicking the “Be a Fan” button to become a member of any created Facebook Fan page.
Yet just recently, Facebook underwent some changes by changing the “Be a Fan” button to “Like” button. Facebook seems to be planning the uniformity of using the “Like” button on their advertisements, albums, notes, photos and so on.
If you wish to be updated on all the recent blog posts and happenings on my Personal Blog and even my other niche sites using Facebook, simply [click here and "Like" ChiQ Montes..] it will take you to the Facebook page and you are already added to my Facebook community.
So to all my readers, do you like this new update?

Multitasking Skills
I am in the process of Learning the Art of Multitasking just to get things done. I always feel bad when I do household chores because I feel like it is a waste of time so while I am currently waiting for my laundry from the spinner, I make plans on my niche blogs. When I cook, I read the news, watch tv and check my emails. When doing this, I am more productive accomplishing quite a number of things in my alloted schedule.
The biggest argument of Mono-tasking over Multitasking is for a person to be able to focus on the task at hand but I feel that I am very much capable of Multitasking without comprising my ability to focus. Admittedly though I currently need more practice and training for my brain to handle multiple things at the same time in a much efficient manner as possible.
I do promise to write another blog post on this new skill I am trying to acquire. As I have mentioned earlier, “I am still in the process of learning the art of Multitasking..” and I shall update you soon on my progress.
So for now let me end this particular post with this quote: Unless you do something beyond what you already mastered, you will never grow..
